First, treat the final wording as a finished document
Paste the complete, copyable text into your enquiry rather than sending only a blurred screenshot. Preserve capitalisation, accents, apostrophes, hyphens, date formats, Roman numerals and punctuation. Mark any required line breaks. Check names, quotations, lyrics and memorial dates against a reliable original source.
The studio can design a layout around the words you supply, but you approve the final spelling, translation and meaning. Do not assume a familiar phrase is automatically correct or arrive with several conflicting versions to choose between while tattooing.
A font is a direction; strokes, space and placement determine readability
Send two or three references, such as fine script, a structured serif, clean capitals or heavier blackletter. Explain whether you like the letter shape, weight, slant or arrangement. An artist may redraw connections, adjust spacing or enlarge the design for body contours, so the final lettering may not equal an off-the-shelf computer font.

Ask a qualified translator or fluent native speaker to verify meaning, grammar, spelling, gender or honorifics, accent marks and cultural context; ideally obtain a second independent proof. Simplified and traditional Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwan glyphs, or Japanese kanji may differ, so decide which version you intend.
Personal handwriting can retain meaningful irregularities. Send a sharp, front-facing original without shadows, ideally with the whole phrase and several attempts. If strokes overlap or are too fine, the artist will explain what needs cleaning up. Do not use generative tools to invent missing letters: they can alter characters or create false strokes.
